Welcome to the Superior Township Clerk's Office!

The Clerk’s office is a busy place. It is often said that almost all issues and Township business pass through the Clerk’s office. On November 4, 2008, I was elected as Clerk of Superior Township. I previously served three terms as a Trustee and have also served on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Commission. I recently retired from the State of Michigan, where I worked as a Supervisor in a Wayne County Adult Probation Office. My previous experience and education has help to provide me with the skills and knowledge needed to perform the duties of the office.

 

The statutory duties of the Clerk include:

1. Keeps all records, books and papers of the Township.
2. Records and maintains township meeting minutes.
3. Keeps the Township’s book of oaths.
4. Responsible for all meeting notices.
5. Keeps the Township’s ordinance books.
6. Responsible for the processing of all accounts payable, as well as the accounting records and all required documentation. Superior Township employs one accountant in the Township office and one accountant in the Utilities Department to prepare and make payment on all accounts payable, maintain financial records and prepare financial statements.
7. Keeps voter registration files and conducts elections.

 

In addition to the above statutory duties, the Clerk is involved in numerous other activities relating to the day-to-day operations of the Township. The Clerk is one of three elected full-time Township officials. These three full-time officials maintain regular Township business hours and are available to respond to inquiries and concerns from residents, property owners, developers, and other governmental employees and officials.

The Clerk is responsible for following-up to ensure that all contracts, purchases, agreements and other actions approved by the Board of Trustee are properly processed and completed. I also serve as the Board representative to the Planning Commission.
