A group composed of former board members of
the
Superior Land Conservancy (SLC) have announced the
formation of a new organization, the Superior
Land Preservation Society (SLPS). In
mid-December, after 20 years as a division
of the Southeast Michigan Land Conservancy, the
group decided to withdraw from the SLC in order to form their new
organization and refocus on their core mission.
The new, all-volunteer organization will
devote
all its energies and resources to land
preservation and protection in Superior Township.
According to the Chairperson, Marion Morris, "We
will collaborate with all partners - the
Township, the County, the Ann Arbor Green Belt,
the State of Michigan, and any other public or
private groups and individuals - to pursue our
vision of a Superior Township with permanent open
space, a rural character, farmlands, wetlands, and dark skies."
The group seeks community support in the form
of
volunteers, members, contributors or friends.
