ZONING ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENTS 174-02 AND 174-03, Final Adoption

At their regular meeting held on April 20, 2009, the Superior Township Board completed the second reading and adoption of amendments to the Zoning Ordinance to Section 1.14 Public Hearing Procedures, to revise the sign posting requirement from at least 21 calendar days to 15 calendar days. Section 4.02 Table of Permitted Uses; add “cemeteries” as a permitted principal use in the PSP (Public/Semi-Public Services) district. Prohibit “Drive-On or Drive-Through facilities for Financial Institutions and government offices” in the NSC (Neighborhood Shopping Center Special District). Section 5.207 Single –Family Dwellings, Detached, restore the requirement for a minimum residential floor area of 1,200 square feet. Section 2.120 Open Space Preservation Overlay District and 7.306 Open Space Preservation Special District, update the OSP districts on the zoning map and clarify the amendment procedures. The Board concurred with the Planning Commission and did not recommend that the average residential density in the OSP district be limited to one dwelling unit per 20.0 acres per quarter section (proposed Section 7.306,C,2). The adopted Zoning Ordinance text shall become effective seven (7) days after publication of the Notice of Final Adoption, unless referendum procedures are initiated under the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act, PA 110 of 2006 as amended, MCL 125.3402. If Referendum procedures are initiated, the Ordinance shall take effect in accordance with MCL 125.3402.
