Opening for Parks Commissioner

The term of one Superior Township Parks Commissioner expires on November 2, 2010. The position will be filled by the winner of the November 2, 2010 general election. If you are interested in running for this position you must run in the August 3, 2010 primary. The winners of the August 3, 2010 primary will then be on the ballot of the November 2, 2010 general election. In order to run in the August primary, you must: 1.) By May 11, 2010, you must file an Affidavit of Identity and a nominating petition. You obtain and return these completed forms to the Superior Township Clerk, David Phillips; 2.) Within 20 days of becoming a candidate, you must file all required campaign finance reporting documents with the Elections Division of the Washtenaw County Clerk/Register’s Office.

 

The Parks Commission meets one day a month, usually the fourth Monday of the month. The next meetings are scheduled for Monday, March 22, 2010 and Monday, April 26, 2010. Parks Commissioners discuss and vote on various issues, which include the Parks Commission budget, applying for grants, recreation programs, the purchase of certain equipment and supplies, staff issues, parks maintenance and other issues related to the operation and maintenance of the Township’s parks and recreation programs. Parks Commissioners are paid $67.00 per each meeting they attend. Additional information is available on the Township’s website www.superior-twp.org.
