ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
The ZBA is a seven member appointed board that hears variances to zoning ordinance provisions and appeals of interpretations of the community planner and building official. The evaluations of variance requests are based on specific criteria set forth in the zoning ordinance and the State of Michigan Zoning Enabling Act.
The ZBA does not have regularly-scheduled meetings. Meetings are called as needed when petitions for variance are filed. Notice of a scheduled meeting is published in the Ann Arbor News, and notices are mailed to property owners within 300 feet of the area of the appeal being heard.
